Tiny Hawk

Rio Japurá, Brazil

Meet the aptly named Tiny Hawk (Accipiter superciliosus), one of the world’s smallest raptors, whose favorite foods are Amazonian hummingbirds and small songbirds. This is the second installment in a series of bird videos by Dr. Jason Weckstein documenting the 2007 joint expedition between The Field Museum and Brazil’s Goeldi Museum to survey Amazonian species along the Rio Japurá and its tributaries.
