Advance Team
Alvaro del Campo
Coordinator and Conservation ScientistUSA
Alvaro is a Peruvian wildlife and conservation scientist who has worked on a variety of projects, from macaw conservation in Peru to condor rehabilitation in California. Alvaro leads the Advance Team, and is the project's general logistics wizard. Without Alvaro, these inventories would be nearly impossible! He coordinates every detail of these complex trips, and on this inventory he established the team's first camp in Ecuador, a second camp in Peru, and a subsite in Ecuador.
Italo Mesones
Coordinator and Conservation ScientistPeru
Italo is a plant biologist and ardent conservationist living in Iquitos, Peru. Together with others, he established a local, non-profit organization that conserves rare white-sand forests near Iquitos in the Allpahuayo-Mishana reserve. He has participated in a handful of inventories with The Field Museum and is a phenomenal field biologist. On this inventory, he established the team's third camp in Ecuador, and together with Guillermo Knell, our fourth camp in Peru.
