Uncovering Prehistoric Illinois

Meet mastodons and other creatures that once roamed ancient Illinois! In 2007, a team of DuPage County Forest Preserve naturalists and Field Museum scientists launched "Mastodon Camp"—a two-year summer program designed to teach Chicagoland educators and students about fossil excavation, as well as the geology and ecology of Ice-Age Illinois.
