Collections Resource Center
Go behind-the-scenes with archaeologist and former Head of Collections Management Dr. Scott Demel to learn more about The Field Museum's state-of-the-art Collections Resource Center (CRC). Completed in 2005, the CRC is an underground conservation and storage facility that houses nearly two million specimens—and counting—from our Anthropology, Zoology, and Geology departments.
Check out the 2007 Expedition Archive to view images of this innovative, climate-controlled environment and the amazing artifacts carefully preserved within its vaults. You can also read dispatches describing the move of some of the largest artifacts from our African and Indonesian collections, as well as fur and feather clothing from our Siberian, Alaskan, and Cheyenne collections.
