Max is an ichthyologist at the Museo de Historia Natural de la Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in Lima, Peru. He has participated in all seven of The Field Museum’s inventories in Peru, and numerous other inventories throughout the country. He is interested in continental fish diversity and conservation of fishes and their habitats. He is conducting long-term research in Madre de Dios with Earthwatch, and his research has taken him everywhere from the coast to the Andes to the Peruvian Amazon. 

 


 

Juan Rivadeneira

Juan is an Ecuadorean ichthyologist, trained at the Universidad Central del Ecuador. Since 2000, he has been part of the team at the Museo Ecuatoriano de Ciencias Naturales, participating in inventories of Amazonian Ecuador in Yasuni National Park as well as the Napo, Putumayo, and Upano watersheds. Juan was the first in Ecuador to use an electrofisher in Andean fish surveys. This is his second inventory with The Field Museum. His interests focus on biogeography and systematics of Neotropical fishes.
