Rio Japurá, Brazil

Meet the gaudy Green-and-gold Tanager (Tangara schrankii), a bird that busily gleans berries and insects beneath the forest canopy. This is the first installment in a series of bird videos by Dr. Jason Weckstein documenting the 2007 joint expedition between The Field Museum and Brazil’s Goeldi Museum to survey Amazonian species along the Rio Japurá and its tributaries.
